Hookipa yesterday 6pm.
6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Lanai
- 1.6ft, 11s, SSE 165º
- 0.5ft, 17s, S 190º
Half a foot of long period southerly energy at Lanai. Could be a glitch or could be coming from the Tasman Sea fetch that you can see in the maps below of February 5 through 8 (direction would be around 210 though). Surfline only has the related swell coming in at less than a foot (0.7ft 18s from 213 tomorrow).
Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
Waimea
- 6.9ft, 8s, NNE 30º
- 0.4ft, 15s, N 5º
Mokapu
- 11.8ft, 11s, ENE 70º
- 4.6ft, 8s, E 85º
- 3.6ft, 6s, E 80º
Other than that 0.4ft 15s at Waimea, no buoys record anything from the NW-N common directions. All about the raging easterly windswell that yesterday registered 13.5ft 11s at Mokapu. Home guess for Hookipa is head to head and a third high and windy.
Much bigger on eastern exposures.
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: possibly over the ice sheet) from Windy.
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):
South Pacific (about 7 days travel time from east/west of New Zealand):
