Sunday 2 5 23 morning call

The proper way to compared two very similar foils (my unchopped HA525 and a friend's chopped one) for downinders would be to do two back to back runs in the same day. I didn't have time yesterday and I had to return the chopped one, so at least I did a run with it. Today I'll do a run with mine and hopefully I'll have a better idea of the differences between the two. Meanwhile, here's a clip from yesterday's run with my impressions.

6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

South shore
Lanai

  • 1ft
    , 14s, SSW 200º
  • 0.9ft
    , 12s, SSW 205º

Small southerly energy at Lanai. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
Hanalei

  • 6.8ft
    , 8s, ENE 60º
  • 2.6ft
    , 11s, NNW 345º
  • 3.9ft
    , 6s, ENE 70º

Waimea

  • 3.5ft
    , 11s, NNW 345º
  • 4.8ft
    , 8s, NE 40º
  • 2.2ft
    , 5s, NE 35º

Mokapu

  • 8ft
    , 8s, NE 50º

The leftover NNW energy you still see at Hanalei and Waimea will continue to decline today while the short period NE-ENE one is rising. Home guess for Hookipa is head to head and a half and windy.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
