Hookipa yesterday.
5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
- 1.5ft, 12s, S 185º
- 2.6ft, 6s, SSE 160º
- 0.5ft, 14s, SSW 195º
Lanai
- 2.3ft, 12s, S 175º
- 1.5ft, 7s, S 175º
- 0.7ft, 14s, SSW 195º
Mix of S and SSW energies at the buoys. Below are the maps of June 30 through July 1 that show the Tasman Sea fetch that generated the latter. After that, the fetch moved east of New Zealand and this coming week we're gonna have some decent waves. About time I'd say, as this summer has been quite poor from the south swells point of view.
Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
Hanalei
- 3.7ft, 8s, NE 50º
- 2.9ft, 4s, ENE 60º
- 1ft, 11s, NE 55º
Mokapu
- 4.6ft, 7s, E 90º
Easterly windswell with a tad of 11s NE energy on the north shore also today. Home guess for Hookipa is waist to chest high.
A small out of season NW swell should hit tomorrow.
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: possibly over the ice sheet) from Windy.
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):
South Pacific (about 7 days travel time from east/west of New Zealand):
