Tuesday 3 8 22 morning call

Best smile in the foiling lineup: Gaby is a lovely mix of youth, beauty, grace, style and friendliness. Yesterday at the harbor.

And now a few grabs out of social media posts: This is Kai Lenny going switch at Jaws. Photo by Surffilming.

Pretty hysterical clip celebrating Bernd Roediger's win at the PWA contest in Cabo Verde. It starts with some killer wave riding and then it gets funny, freaky funny. Well done to both Bernd and to clip editor Paul van Bellen.

4.7ft @ 9s from 59° (ENE)
1.3ft @ 16s from 308° (WNW)

At least three different swells in the water today. Pauwela tells us that at the moment the most dominant is still the ENE 9s windswell, but there's also a small long period distantly generated WNW one that should be building throughout the day. Lastly, there's also a shorter period nearby generated NNW swell (clearly visible at the NW buoy). Below are the maps of Mar 4 through 7, on which I put red arrows to indicate the remote fetch and black ones to indicated the nearby fetch.

Below on the left is Hanalei's graph on which I drew a red line to show how the long period WNW swell should pick up locally. If that is going to be correct, the Surfline forecast on the right seems to be too early and too optimistic with 6.3ft 16s from 328 at noon. It might be a model glitch, if that blue line would have kept rising without the noon spike, it would have been much more realistic (still early, though).

Home guess for Hookipa is around head high and clean conditions and increasing through the day. Eastern exposures will keep having fun size short period windswell waves.

Forecast of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.
