4am significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
2.1ft @ 13s from 184° (S)
Lanai
2.4ft @ 14s from 187° (S)
Well, this swell might have not matched the (high) expectations of most surfers, but it sure is lasting a long time. Check the Lahaina webcam
if interested, for size, conditions and consistency. This a wave a 5.30am, there's already one guys out.
New swell if predicted to start showing tomorrow, but it's going to be a lot of angular spreading involved. We'll look at the fetches tomorrow.
North shore
Pauwela
4ft @ 7s from 74° (ENE)
0.2ft @ 16s from 92° (E)
Windswell picked up a bit, there were actually some waves at Hookipa yesterday (I was told up to head high!). But with only 4ft 7s at Pauwela, I still call for small waves at Hookipa, bigger on eastern exposures.
That sliver of 16s energy might be from tropical storm Genevieve, but it's not going to much for us at that size. Tomorrow Surfline has it at 2ft 14s, we'll see if that happens. I'm skeptical, as the fetch was intense but too far and small.
Wind map at noon (the other ones can be found at link n.-2
of GP's meteo websites list in the right column).
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue:
angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: apparent direct aim,
but out of the great circle ray map, so not 100% sure).
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner
of the North Pacific):
South Pacific (about 7 days travel time from east/west of
New Zealand):
