Monday 8 17 20 morning call

A couple of weeks ago Bali resident Italian photographer Federico Vanno aka Liquid Barrel released this video of Padang Padang. The guy's positioning is excellent.

3am significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
2ft @ 15s from 190° (S)
1.3ft @ 12s from 187° (S)

Lanai
2ft @ 15s from 188° (S)
1.3ft @ 12s from 189° (S)

Usually, when the two near shore south facing buoys are showing readings so close to each other, you can count on the fact that what they read is what is in the water. Those numbers would make you think of good size, but this particular swell has been smaller than the buoys indicate. That seems to be the case also today. So, check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
Pauwela
3.2ft @ 8s from 79° (ENE)

Tiny waves at Hookipa (close to flat), a bit bigger on eastern exposures.

Wind map at noon
(the other ones can be found at link n.-2 of GP's meteo websites list in the right column).

Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: apparent direct aim, but out of the great circle ray map, so not 100% sure).
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):

South Pacific (about 7 days travel time from east/west of New Zealand):
