4am Surfline
significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
2.3ft @ 15s from 192° (SSW)
Lanai
1.7ft @ 15s from 187° (S)
The numbers at the buoys are decent, but what the buoys don't tell is the consistency, which seems to be extremely low (angular spreading swell). Check the Lahaina
or Kihei
webcams if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
Pauwela
3.7ft @ 8s from 56° (ENE)
NW energy is now completely gone and with such small windswell at Pauwela, I'm gonna call Hookipa (and the rest of the north shore) virtually flat today. Same conditions will follow the next couple of days, reflecting the lack of fetches of the last days. Today there's a decently wide but fairly weak NW fetch instead (check map below) that will generate a small swell arriving Monday.
Forecast and energy spectrum of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.
Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here (click on animation of the 10 meter column).
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked) from Windy.
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):
South Pacific (about 7 days travel time from east/west of New Zealand):
Morning sky.
