Tuesday 5 11 21 morning call

Hookipa yesterday afternoon, looks like Cody Young. Photo by Jimmie Hepp from this album.

6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
2.4ft @ 13s from 191° (SSW)

Lanai

1.6ft @ 13s from 187° (S)
1.2ft @ 18s from 199° (SSW)

Small 13s energy at the buoys, with Lanai offering also a bit of 18s SSW (probably very inconsistent). Check the Lahaina or Kihei webcams if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore

NW101
3.9ft @ 10s from 343° (NNW)

Waimea
2.3ft @ 11s from 326° (NW)

Pauwela
6ft @ 8s from 61° (ENE)

NW energy disappeared from NW001, Hanalei and Pauwela, while NW101 and Waimea still show traces of it. When it's like this, it means it's still in the water, but it's about to vanish. The decent size ENE windswell at Pauwela is what I think I mostly saw in the water at Hookipa (around head high, sometimes smaller, but sometimes also bigger... beach report below this call) together with very occasional more organized NW sets of similar size. Get them till they're here, second half of the week looks very summery.

Forecast and energy spectrum of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.
