Friday 10 14 22 morning call

Hookipa yesterday morning. I wrote "7, if you have a longboard and like small waves".

Should have added or a foilboard.

And occasionally even a shortboard.

6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

Southerly energy continues at the buoys. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

  • New NNW swell is building at the upstream buoys. It comes from the fetch indicated in the maps of October 11 and 12 below.

Below is the Surfline forecast showing the swell picking up in the afternoon locally and peaking during the night at 8ft 12s from 347. Home guess for Hookipa early morning is flat to waist high but progressively building through the day. Unfortunately, the swell be accompanied by an onshore flow that will make for less clean conditions.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
