Paia Bay yesterday.
6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Lanai
- 2ft, 18s, S 170º
- 1.2ft, 14s, SSW 200º
Barbers
- 2.2ft, 18s, S 170º
New long period S energy is at the buoys. It comes from the angular spreading fetch (blue circles) in the maps below of October 14 and 15.
Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
NW001
- 10.5ft, 13s, N 350º
Hanalei
- 8.3ft, 11s, N 350º
Waimea
- 4ft, 13s, N 5º
- 4.3ft, 11s, N 350º
Pauwela
- 7ft, 12s, NNW 340º
Short period northerly energy is still at the buoys and it's going to stay elevated also today with a tendency to decline in the second half of the day. Last day of good morning conditions, as tomorrow the trades should be back. Home guess for Hookipa is head and a half to double, clean faces, but irregular breaking pattern.
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: possibly over the ice sheet) from Windy.
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):
