Hookipa yesterday. Photo by Jimmie Hepp from this album.
Hookipa late in the afternoon.
4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Lanai
- 1.6ft, 15s, S 185º
- 1.7ft, 9s, S 170º
- 1ft, 13s, S 185º
Barbers
- 3.4ft, 15s, S 185º
Almost two feet of difference in the 15s energy at the two south facing buoys, the only way to find out what's in the water is to check the Lahaina webcam if interested,
for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
Waimea
- 1.2ft, 11s, NNW 340º
Pauwela
- 5ft, 8s, NE 45º
- 1.5ft, 11s, N 355º
- 3.6ft, 4s, E 85º
The small NNW energy that was in the water yesterday is fading, today it's going to be mostly about the windswell, which instead is building thanks to the strong easterly trades. Home guess for Hookipa is around head high. Epic donwinding conditions on the north shore in the afternoon. Yesterday was a 9, today and tomorrow could be a 10.
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: possibly over the ice sheet) from Windy.
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):
