Wednesday 11 9 22 morning call

Hookipa yesterday morning.

Hookipa yesterday afternoon. Photo by Jimmie Hepp from this album.

Tituan Galea posted this photo of him tow foiling at Belharra. Photo by Yannick Boissenot.

FYI: I won't be posting the video of the comparison of my two favorite wing downwind foils anytime soon. What's happening is that one is teaching me about the other and viceversa and things keep evolving. In other words, I need to keep riding and comparing them.

5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

South shore
Lanai

  • 0.7ft
    , 11s, S 185º

Barbers

  • 1.5ft
    , 11s, S 180º
  • 0.3ft
    , 17s, SW 230º

Very small southerly energy at the buoys. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
N

  • 3.9ft
    , 12s, NNE 15º

Hanalei

  • 4.1ft
    , 10s, NNE 20º
  • 1.8ft
    , 13s, N 10º

Waimea

  • 2.7ft
    , 13s, N 10º

Mokapu

    • 5.5ft
      , 8s, E 80º
    • 2.8ft
      , 13s, NNE 15º

Hilo

  • 5.9ft
    , 8s, E 80º
  • 2.7ft
    , 14s, NNE 20º
  • 2.5ft
    , 11s, N 0º

NNE energy filled in, but didn't reach the 4ft 14s predicted by Surfline. The energy is bigger east of us and Hilo is only at 2.7ft 14s. Home guess for Hookipa is around head high with possible bigger sets.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
