Yesterday I let my buddy Dan try my winging board and my F-One SK8 650. He was pleased by both.
Hookipa late afternoon had some kiters out in pretty wild conditions.

New long period NW swell rose during the night while elevated NE windswell continues pretty solid at the buoys. Below are the maps of February 1 through 5 that show the fetch that generated it. It was actually two distinct lows and the fetch of the first one is marked by a black stick, while the one of the second is marked by a red stick. The fetches ended up being in roughly the same region of the western north Pacific, so there will be some continuity in the direction. The first phase was more intense and that is reflected by the impressive 10ft 18s reading at Waimea. Home guess for Hookipa is around double to triple overhead out of the NW swell only, so with the NE energy on top and the persistent strong easterly wind, it'll be even wilder conditions today. Very likely they'll resume the comp at Pipe (streaming here, if they do).
Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
