Saturday 5 13 23 morning call

Couple of shots of a windsurf session happened up the coast yesterday.

I'm nursing my second non impact related hip injury due to foiling. Too many downwind runs while using the footstrap setup I use for waves made for a pretty bad inflamed back hip flexor that will require some time off. It taught me that downwinding the back strap system needs to be different. Next time I'm going to try with a long strap and/or two hook straps.

6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

Both buoys show some southerly energy. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

New NNW to N swell is at the buoys. Below are the maps of May 10 to 13 that show the fetch that generated it. As you can see, the fetch was extremely well oriented and in place for a few days, so this should be a fairly big, consistent and long lasting swell that will hit our north shore as well as the upper west side (fun size for Honolua, please send me pics if you go). Home guess for Hookipa is around double overhead and no wind in the first half of the morning. Ian Walsh's Menehune contest is up at Pavils today and tomorrow.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
