Tuesday 5 23 23 morning call

Kanaha yesterday.

5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

Long period SSW energy looks better "on paper" (at the buoys) than in the water. That's because the buoys readings don't give any indication about consistency, which, in this case, is extremely low. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore

NW101

  • 1.9ft
    , 11s, NW 305º

Hanalei

  • 1.8ft
    , 12s, WNW 285º

Waimea

  • 1.3ft
    , 12s, WNW 300º

Mokapu

    • 5.5ft
      , 7s, E 85º

Traces of WNW energy is at the upstream buoys, but probably not noticeable locally, where instead the easterly windswell will be the main source of energy. Home guess for Hookipa is around waist high, bigger on eastern exposures.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
