Kanaha yesterday.
5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
- 1.3ft, 18s, SSW 200º
- 2.7ft, 8s, SSE 155º
- 1.3ft, 14s, S 180º
Lanai
- 1.8ft, 18s, SSW 210º
- 1.5ft, 9s, SSE 160º
- 0.7ft, 13s, SSW 200º
Long period SSW energy looks better "on paper" (at the buoys) than in the water. That's because the buoys readings don't give any indication about consistency, which, in this case, is extremely low.
Check the Lahaina webcam if interested,
for size, conditions and consistency.
NW101
- 1.9ft, 11s, NW 305º
Hanalei
- 1.8ft, 12s, WNW 285º
Waimea
- 1.3ft, 12s, WNW 300º
Mokapu
- 5.5ft, 7s, E 85º
Traces of WNW energy is at the upstream buoys, but probably not noticeable locally, where instead the easterly windswell will be the main source of energy. Home guess for Hookipa is around waist high, bigger on eastern exposures.
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: possibly over the ice sheet) from Windy.
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):
