Hookipa yesterday.
5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
- 2.2ft, 13s, S 180º
- 0.7ft, 18s, S 185º
Lanai
- 2.6ft, 11s, SSE 150º
- 1.2ft, 18s, S 170º
While the very long lasting south swell is dissipating, but still with some energy in the water, a new small long period one appeared at the buoys. Below are the maps of May 2 to 3 that show the angular spreading fetch that generated it. Expect extremely low consistency in the long period sets, but there should also be a bit of leftover shorter period energy from the previous swell.
Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
Hanalei
- 5.1ft, 8s, ENE 65º
- 0.8ft, 12s, N 10º

- 0.8ft, 12s, N 355º
Mokapu

Only easterly windswell on the north shore also today. Home guess for Hookipa is waist to belly high.
