Today's post starts with this remarkable photo of Ocean Macedo at Honolua on Wednesday by OneMoreFoto.
Now a lot of material from yesterday, starting from my first session.
I then went to the harbor for some fun foiling. This is Kane.
After that, I drove back up the coast with the intention of going home to rest and stretch, but Hookipa looked so good that I had to stop by and enjoy the show. What a place Maui is!
This is Camille Juban who dominated the very light wind windsurf session. Photo by Jimmie Hepp from this gallery.
These are some of the photos I took.
Matt Meola and friends were lighting up the action at Lanes.
Hana Hank Gaskell was tearing up The Point instead.
Bernd Roediger.
Gaskell 12 o'clock.
Meola stuck this one.
Browsinho healed nicely.
Dreamy wave for Meola, who was probably bummed of not finding aerial sections instead.
Cody Young.
The Honolua contest waiting period starts today at 7:30. Hard to call if they're gonna run round one, with so much surf predicted ahead.
4am significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Lanai
0.7ft @ 16s from 225° (SW)
Questionable long period mini reading at Lanai, check the Lahaina webcam
if interested, for size, conditions and consistency (there's not much).
North shore
NW101
5.1ft @ 12s from 346° (NNW)
Waimea
6.1ft @ 13s from 318° (NW)
NW swell down to manageable levels, Hookipa should still have waves up to double overhead.
Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: apparent direct aim, but out of the great circle ray map, so not 100% sure).
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):
South Pacific (about 7 days travel time from east/west of New Zealand):
