Thursday 12 3 20 morning call

Thanks to blog reader Geoff for the donation.

Of the many Peahi shots from yesterday I've already seen so far, this one from John Patao is the one that impressed me the most. It's Nathan Florence in a inconceivably steep drop. Would love to find out if he stuck it, but it doesn't really matter. Putting yourself in a situation like that requires massive skills, balls and a bit of craziness.

First video on youtube of the Jaws session. There will be plenty more, but at the moment this is the only one up.

Same for Honolua Bay. Saw many more on FB and IG, but can't share those (or at least I don't know how).

This one instead will probably remain the only one filmed yesterday at... "the other Bay".

4am significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore

Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore

NW001
9.9ft @ 14s from 299° (WNW)

Waimea

8.2ft @ 15s from 315° (NW)
6ft @ 13s from 323° (NW)

XL swell peaked yesterday and today is going to be definitely smaller and declining. Hookipa probably still unsurfable by the common mortals to start the day with, but other more protected spots will be more manageable. Below is Waimea's graph, Maui is about 4 hours later than that.

Wind map at noon .The other ones can be found at link n.-2 of GP's meteo websites list in the right column (click on animation of the 10 meter column).

Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: apparent direct aim, but out of the great circle ray map, so not 100% sure).
North Pacific (about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):

South Pacific (about 7 days travel time from east/west of New Zealand):

Morning sky.
