Sunday 12 13 20 morning call

Thanks to Roy for the donation.

Pretty flat all day yesterday, this is Matt Meola some days ago. Photo by OneMoreFoto.

5am significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Lanai
1ft @ 14s from 201° (SSW)

Long lasting small long period SSW energy is now down to 1ft 14s at Lanai. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
NW101
7.9ft @ 15s from 325° (NW)

Waimea

4.2ft @ 9s from 345° (NNW)
2.6ft @ 18s from 323° (NW)
2.2ft @ 12s from 328° (NW)

Mokapu
4.5ft @ 9s from 46° (NE)

New NW swell only picked up during the night at the NW buoys, so it will be rising all day today locally. Waimea confirms the simultaneous arrival of different periods, which will make the breaking pattern less predictable. Fortunately the wind should be good for most of the morning (specially down the coast). Unfortunately, without Pauwela, the guess of the size at Hookipa is overly challenging. Based on Waimea, I'm gonna guess head high, but rapidly rising throughout all day.

Wind map at noon .The other ones can be found at link n.-2 of GP's meteo websites list in the right column (click on animation of the 10 meter column).

Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked, yellow: apparent direct aim, but out of the great circle ray map, so not 100% sure).
