Spectacular day of surfing yesterday at Hookipa. I took some photos between my sessions.
4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Lanai
3.6ft @ 13s from 271° (W)
Lanai shows a westerly wrap that might bring something to the Kihei
coast. The Lahaina coast doesn't get much of it, but I still recommend
to check both the Lahaina
or Kihei
webcams if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
NW101
6.9ft @ 12s from 293° (WNW)
3.7ft @ 8s from 1° (N)
3ft @ 10s from 19° (NNE)
Pauwela
5.2ft @ 9s from 83° (E)
4.8ft @ 12s from 328° (NW)
No shortage of NW energy this whole week, as explained by Pat Caldwell on his page. Below are the maps of Feb 12 through 15 showing the fetches.
Based on Pauwela's reading, home guess for Hookipa is around head and a half and clean conditions thanks to the favorable morning wind.
Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found at link n.-2 of GP's meteo websites list in the right column (click on animation of the 10 meter column).
