Friday 9 3 21 morning call

No photos from yesterday (plenty opportunities, but I keep forgetting my reporter duties). Here's a random video I recently watched. Very entertaining.

5am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers

1.7ft @ 16s from 187° (S)
1.3ft @ 10s from 170° (S)

Mixed sources for the mix of periods at Barbers, check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency. Looks like plenty waves, but early onshores (strong trades on this side mess with the circulation on the other side).

North shore

Pauwela

5.8ft @ 7s from 60° (ENE)
3ft @ 11s from 82° (E)

Short period windswell picked up with the wind, while those 3ft 11s from 82 remain a bit of a mystery. Home guess for Hookipa is around waist to chest high and sloppy.

Forecast and energy spectrum of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here (click on animation of the 10 meter column).

North Pacific
(about 4 days travel time from the NW corner of the North Pacific):

South Pacific
(about 7 days travel time from east/west of New Zealand):

Morning sky.
