Sunday 9 12 21 morning call

No photos from yesterday, here's the next one from my trip. The flow (literally) took me to explore the Payette river north of Boise. The fire ban wasn't up already and I enjoyed a couple of nights in front of a fire.

Actually, the second night it felt like the temperature was dropping a lot more than the night before and so I checked the temperature forecast for that location. This is what came up (3C is 37F). It didn't take me long to put out the fire, pack everything and find an hotel in McCall. Couldn't find anything cheaper than a Super8 motel at $175 (McCall is a bit of a posh sky resort little town), but it had a hot tub, so I went from possibly freezing to delightfully bathing in hot water. Worth every penny.

4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.

South shore
Barbers

2.3ft @ 18s from 181° (S)
2.2ft @ 15s from 183° (S)
1.4ft @ 10s from 183° (S)
1.4ft @ 11s from 183° (S)

Very good readings at Barbers, as a new 18s energy is overlapping to the existing 15s and shorter period. Can't get excited until you check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency though. And in fact, I don't see much to be excited about, until a long period set finally arrives.

North shore
Pauwela

3.9ft @ 7s from 24° (NNE)
1.3ft @ 5s from 44° (NE)
0.8ft @ 12s from 33° (NE)

Bit more NNE windswell energy (there was a weak fetch in the past few days) and almost a foot 12s from that low in the Gulf of Alaska we saw 3-4 days ago. Home guess for Hookipa is for around waist to occasionally chest high and sloppy.

Forecast and energy spectrum of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here (click on animation of the 10 meter column).
