Saturday 9 11 21 morning call

SUP foiling on the south shore was my discipline of choice yesterday. The wind was light at Kanaha, but this lady made it look easy thanks to her 5.0 F1 Strike. F1 have made some pretty radical choices in their design and that makes their wings excellent in some categories and pretty bad in others. Here's my very personal list of both:
Excellent: low end power, pumping effectiveness, light weight, stability when luffed by the hip.
Pretty bad: high end, lost of shape when overpowered, flimsy handles, tips touch the water more often than lower aspects wings (obviously more noticeable in the big sizes). I love my 4.2, I just got to make sure I'm never overpowered on it.

South shore
Barbers

2.1ft @ 17s from 189° (S)
1.9ft @ 9s from 173° (S)
1.8ft @ 11s from 181° (S)

Remotely generated angular spreading long period energy shows 2ft 17s at Barbers, but all those adjectives spell low consistency. But there's also a couple of feet of 9s and 11s and those were clearly overlapping yesterday. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
Pauwela
2.8ft @ 7s from 15° (NNE)

Another flat day on the north shore.

Forecast and energy spectrum of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.
