Gabi tried a Foil Drive setup for the first time and unsurprisingly did extremely well.
7am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Lanai
- 1.4ft, 14s, SSE 165º
- 1.3ft, 12s, S 175º
- 0.7ft, 11s, SSW 200º
Small southerly energies at Lanai.
Check the Lahaina webcam if interested,
for size, conditions and consistency. Looks onshore because of the Kona flow.
North shore
NW101
- 5.7ft, 9s, NNW 340º
- 2.1ft, 10s, ESE 105º
- 1.8ft, 11s, NW 305º
Mokapu
- 4.1ft, 8s, ENE 70º
- 0.7ft, 14s, NE 35º
- 0.9ft, 6s, ENE 65º
A couple of NW swells are at the NW101 buoy. Below are the maps of March 3 though 5 that show the fetches that generated them. The NE angular spreading fetch on the last one might be responsible for the 0.7ft 14s from 35 degrees reading at Mokapu.
Only a couple of feet 12s of NW energy are predicted locally by Surfline at the end of the day. It might be more than that thanks to the 9s energy, hard to tell because of the lack of local buoys. Home guess for Hookipa in the morning is for wais to shoulder high and very clean thanks to the light Kona. Note: without the local buoys, the home guess for Hookipa is obviously more difficult than usual. Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here.
