8pm yesterday Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
- 1.3ft, 14s, S 180º
Lanai
- 1.4ft, 14s, S 190º
For some reason the readings are from 8pm yesterday. Both Barbers and Lanai record similar 14s southerly energy. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.
North shore
Mokapu
- 9.4ft, 10s, N 10º
As predicted, yesterday the short period northerly energy was smaller in the morning that it was the day before. But I was surprised to see the waves come up again in the afternoon. That 8pm reading at Mokapu shows that increase. There's no readings this morning, so I don't know what's in the water and can't call the size for Hookipa. The Surfline forecast calls for mostly easterly windswell (8ft 8s from 75) and only a little bit of north leftover (2ft 10s), but it seems unlikely that it dropped from almost 10ft to only 2, so I'm expecting to be more than that. And that's all I can say.
