Sunday 3 21 21 morning call

No photos from yesterday, here's another image of that tow session from a week ago with the big north swell. Kai Lennny, photo by John Patao.

6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
1.9ft @ 16s from 174° (S)

Lanai

2.7ft @ 15s from 190° (S)

Long period southerly energy coming from the fetches I posted yesterday is more than predicted at the buoys. Check the Lahaina or Kihei webcams if interested, for size, conditions and consistency. There's definitely waves. Too bad my car is still undergoing body surgery.

North shore
Pauwela

8.1ft @ 9s from 58° (ENE)
5.3ft @ 14s from 21° (NNE)
3.6ft @ 4s from 79° (ENE)

Mix of short and long period energies from NNE to E at Pauwela. Home guess for Hookipa is head and a half or more and windy/rainy.

Graph and forecast of the Pauwela buoy together with its energy spectrum from this PACIOOS page.

Wind map at noon. The other ones can be found here (click on animation of the 10 meter column).

Fetches map (circles legend: red: direct aim, blue: angular spreading, black: blocked) from Windy.

Kai, Ian, Imai, Barger etc. were NOT towing last Saturday - they were paddling with ski assist to get back out.
