Photos are trickling down on the social media of secret spots sessions on the first day of the big north swell. Not so sure I care about knowing which spot is that...

North shore
Waiting for the usual buoy readings to be available again, I'll keep using the info provided by this website. This collage offers the 6am Pauwela significant wave height readings (9ft, 10s from 18), together with the forecast graphs and the energy spectrum on the right. Mostly northerly short period energy, with plenty wind on it means sub average conditions everywhere on the north shore. Home guess for Hookipa is sloppy and blown out head and a half peaky waves.
It's the start of a 6 days period of strong trades, waves are going to be of poor quality everywhere on the north shore.
My car is going to have some body work done, wish me luck driving around like that on my recently acquired moped it (love that thing) in that wind. Fortunately, the drive from my huose to Hookipa is only a couple of minutes, I'm ready to do some more windy surfing. Big thanks to Donny of Maui Cyclery for letting me borrow the racks.
