Wednesday 3 3 21 morning call

Photo of the day is from the Lahaina side.

I caught a few clean ones over there before heading back to Hookipa for another windy-surfing session.

4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
1.6ft @ 12s from 192° (SSW)

Lanai

1.9ft @ 12s from 167° (SSE)

Yesterday's swell was a real surprise with sets in the chest high range. Buoys disagree about the direction this morning, but my guess is that there should still something in the water. Check the Lahaina or Kihei webcams if interested, for size, conditions and consistency. Check this baby out!

North shore
Pauwela
9.8ft @ 9s from 64° (ENE)

The elevated ENE windswell continues to both torment and delight us. The pleasant difference today should be the lighter wind, after I can't remember how many days of strong trades. But don't you worry, very strong trades are predicted to be back already by the weekend and next week could be even windier than it's been. Surfline calls for 17ft 10s of easterly windswell on Thursday 3-11 and 15ft 10s on Thursday 3-18!
Home guess for Hookipa is head to head and a half and sloppy. Eastern exposures still out of control big.

Wind map at noon. While waiting for the usual wind maps to come back online, these are two alternatives: PACIOOS page and Surfline.
