Friday 12 17 21 morning call

Hookipa yesterday afternoon.

5-6am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
1.2ft @ 9s from 176° (S)

Despite the extremely small southerly energy at Barbers, the webcam shows some waves. Always check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
NW001
6ft @ 17s from 312° (NW)

Hanalei

3.6ft @ 13s from 309° (WNW)
3ft @ 9s from 59° (ENE)
2ft @ 18s from 311° (NW)

Hilo

5.6ft @ 8s from 68° (ENE)
3.2ft @ 13s from 355° (N)

Kaneohe Bay
3.4ft @ 8s from 60° (ENE)

New long period showing strong at the NW buoy will overlap to the existing moderate one that is locally probably around 3.5ft 13s and the easterly windswell. Below are the maps of Dec 13 through 16 that show the fetch that originated it.

Below are the graphs of NW001 and Hanalei together with the Surfline forecast. The new swell will build throughout the day locally and peak tomorrow. Home guess for Hookipa is around head and a half and good conditions to start the day with.

Forecast of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.
