Thursday 12 16 21 morning call

Pretty spectacular waves in the harbor yesterday.

I went for a delightful SUP surfing session. No discipline is my favorite... I like them all.

4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers
0.8ft @ 12s from 189° (S)

Extremely small southerly energy at Barbers. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
NW101
5.6ft @ 15s from 314° (NW)

N
4.8ft @ 13s from 22° (NNE)

Hanalei

4.1ft @ 15s from 328° (NW)
4ft @ 8s from 64° (ENE)
2.9ft @ 12s from 21° (NNE)
2.6ft @ 11s from 20° (NNE)

Kaneohe Bay

4.1ft @ 8s from 52° (ENE)
4ft @ 14s from 13° (NNE)

Hilo
6.1ft @ 13s from 12° (NNE)

New distantly generated NW swell (fetch in the NW corner of the map of Dec 12 re-posted yesterday) is showing at NW and Hanalei while yesterday's large N swell subsided to moderate levels. The mix of the two should give Hookipa waves in the head and a half range. These guesses are becoming increasingly difficult as the the buoys pandemic continues. Conditions should be clean thanks to the lack of wind in the early morning.

Forecast of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.
