Wednesday 12 8 21 morning call

I thought I had a photo of Hookipa from yesterday, but I guess I didn't save it. Maybe it's a good thing, as it would not look as good as this one of Rafi Neri at Honolua (not yesterday) posted by OneMoreFoto.

4am Surfline significant buoy readings and discussion.
South shore
Barbers

3.7ft @ 9s from 183° (S)
1.5ft @ 13s from 213° (SW)

9s south swell made by the Kona wind surprisingly still sticking around, while Barbers also show some 13s SW energy. Check the Lahaina webcam if interested, for size, conditions and consistency.

North shore
Hanalei

3.7ft @ 11s from 5° (N)
1ft @ 18s from 301° (WNW)

Waimea

4ft @ 8s from 46° (NE)
3.7ft @ 11s from 359° (N)
0.6ft @ 18s from 317° (NW)

Kaneohe Bay
6.9ft @ 8s from 71° (ENE)

N swell down to 11s but still at the buoys, should be its last day. New small NW swell out of the fetch in the maps of Dec 5 and 6 below shouldn't be particularly noticeable locally, at least in the morning. What will be noticeable instead is the windswell recorded by Kaneohe Bay which should stay elevated for several days, as shown in the Pacioos forecast.
Home guess for Hookipa is around head to head and a half. Eastern exposure will have waves too.

Below is the Windguru table for the next 10 days showing a clear change in the weather/wind patterns. A few years ago, a forecast like that would send me into semi-depression, now I'm all excited thanks to the Foil Drive assisted SUP foiling or wing downwinders.

Forecast of Pauwela from this PACIOOS page.
